Built in 1927 by the publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst for his paramour Marion Davies and his coterie of elite friends, the Warwick New York Hotel has long held a special place in Manhattan society. Stellar guests have included James Dean, Cary Grant who resided in the hotel for over 12 years, Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Glamour and discretion were top of the agenda when the hotel was designed. Today’s visitors will find ultra-spacious rooms, high ceilings, decorative crown mouldings, Italian marble bathrooms and a lobby with a deliberately residential feel. With a great location in central Manhattan, the Warwick New York is well located for luxury shopping on Fifth and Madison Avenues, and culture lovers can stop into the Museum of Modern Art across the street. Art is also on the menu at the hotel’s modern restaurant, Murals on 54, which showcases murals painted in 1937 by renowned artist Dean Cornwell. Randolph’s Bar and Lounge is an intimate alcove in which to enjoy a cocktail while taking in the buzz of midtown.
The hotel’s 359 rooms and 66 suites enjoy grand proportions, and are decorated in a modern European style. Some rooms have their own private terrace. Italian marble bathrooms and wireless Internet access are standard throughout the hotel.
